Old wisdom says “A bad workman blames his tools” and no doubt there is some truth in this statement. What it does not say however is that sometimes the tools really do make the job far harder than it needs to be.
Some years ago I worked “on site” as an electrician. I was an employee of a small company and so used a mixture of my own tools and company equipment.
Those tools were of highly variable quality and sometimes caused more work than they saved. This was never so obvious as working on a hospital construction contract next to a specialist German team. In a very short time I learned several ways to describe rubbish kit in German, not all of them suitable for children’s ears! I also learned how much difference quality tools can make to a working day.
In later times I developed property on a small scale. Here the tools were my own and so I was free to buy decent gear. I am convinced that the difference between good and bad tools really does save time. It definitely reduces frustration.
The desire to share some of the information I have learned (the hard way) is what gave rise to this website.
